China's First Industrial Embodied Quality Inspection Robot Enters Mass Production in Luoyang

Seizing the future of embodied intelligence, the industrial embodied quality inspection robot — China's first of its kind — has achieved industrial-scale production in Luoyang!

On the 16th, at CASIVIBOT (Luoyang) Co., Ltd., China's first industrial embodied quality inspection robot, CASIVIBOT, rolled off the production line in batches and was delivered, marking the product's official entry into mass production and large-scale application. This milestone powerfully ushers China's industrial quality inspection into the 3.0 era of "Embodied Intelligence + Ecosystem Collaboration."

CASIVIBOT is a national-level specialized and sophisticated "Little Giant" enterprise incubated by the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA) in Luoyang. In recent years, leveraging over a decade of technical expertise in glass surface defect detection, CASIVIBOT has focused on building an industrial intelligent technology system featuring "Hand-Eye-Brain" coordination, and released the first CASIVIBOT prototype in August of last year.

"This mass-produced version incorporates real-world application scenarios and achieves further breakthroughs in addressing issues such as low manual inspection efficiency, high false-negative and missed-detection rates, and persistently high costs. It possesses three core advantages: 'Dexterous Hands,' 'Sharp Eyes,' and 'Smart Brain,'" said Sun Erdong, R&D Director of the Embodied Robot Division at CASIVIBOT.

"Dexterous Hands"

The product adopts an integrated "Hand-Eye-Brain" collaborative architecture. Multi-degree-of-freedom anthropomorphic dual arms, combined with AI algorithms, enable 360-degree omnidirectional scanning without blind spots.

"Sharp Eyes"

The multi-spectral perception system achieves human-eye-inspired multimodal imaging, with detection precision reaching the micron level. Key such as motion and detection accuracy meet internationally advanced standards.

"Smart Brain"

The product is equipped with a million-level, precisely annotated defect sample library and a vertical industry-specific large model, effectively circumventing the "AI hallucination" problem commonly associated with general-purpose large models. Notably, the product can be guided to identify new defects through natural language descriptions and supports cloud-based "train one, deploy across the fleet" capabilities, realizing the paradigm of "tell it what to test, and it tests" and "say it once, teach the whole group." The inspection calibration cycle can be compressed from dozens of hours under traditional solutions to the minute level, while its judgment logic and recognition capabilities rival those of veteran quality inspectors.

Currently, the product has achieved small-batch mass production and is being stably applied in inspection scenarios for automotive motor stators, cemented carbide inserts, precision cutting tools, packaging products, and other industrial goods. It accurately identifies defects such as edge chipping, missing pieces, gas holes, magnetic fragmentation, foreign object contamination, and adhesive residue, with false-negative and missed-detection rates far below manual inspection levels.

"Having been tested in real-world operations, this product precisely addresses the pain points of traditional quality inspection — insufficient flexibility, high reliance on manual labor, and difficulty in closing the data loop — and has received widespread acclaim from customers. Shipments are expected to exceed 100 units this year," said Sun Erdong.

A relevant official from the Luoyang Municipal Science and Technology Bureau stated that in recent years, Luoyang has actively cultivated emerging and future industries, incorporating artificial intelligence and robotics into its 12 prioritized industrial chains and clusters. Relying on leading enterprises such as CASIVIBOT and CITIC Heavy Industries, the city continues to advance technology R&D and expand application scenarios, achieving a series of landmark breakthroughs.

Moving forward, Luoyang will continue to leverage the driving power of leading enterprises, promote coordinated development across the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain, and steadily expand the scale of the AI and robotics industry. This will inject strong momentum into Luoyang's cultivation of new quality productive forces and its accelerated construction of a modern industrial system anchored by advanced manufacturing.
